Isabel Pellegrino is a student at George Washington University majoring in journalism and minoring in sustainability. She believes creative works, supported by research and data, can inspire and educate the public with unparalled impact. She believes there’s always more to learn and endless stories to tell. Her goal is to augment her own and other’s understanding and compassion for the unique lives and perspectives that make up the world we live in.
"Art is the medium in which the past and the future can be depicted in a single visual frame – challenging reality and affirming innovation. In the words of Impressionist painter Eduard Degas, “It is not what you see, but what you make others see”. As an artist, I have aimed to illustrate a contrast between the present and future of architecture in the face of rising environmental concerns. Biophilic design particularly fascinates me because it focuses on making cities more sustainable through infrastructure and social means. Painting is a way to present something imagined that could become a reality. We must break order and incorporate nature into our cities – it will benefit our health and the future of our Earth."
